{"id":32792,"date":"2025-04-16T12:14:56","date_gmt":"2025-04-16T12:14:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bluffmeatsupply.co.za\/touchscreen\/?post_type=recipe&#038;p=32792"},"modified":"2025-09-26T12:49:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-26T12:49:08","slug":"beef-tongue-clover","status":"publish","type":"recipe","link":"https:\/\/bluffmeatsupply.co.za\/touchscreen\/index.php\/recipe\/beef-tongue-clover\/","title":{"rendered":"Beef Tongue with Raisin Sauce"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Ingredients<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>1 beef tongue<\/li>\n<li>15 ml (1 tablespoon) brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>4 black peppercorns<\/li>\n<li>3 cloves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Sauce<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>125 ml (\u00bd cup) brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>5 ml (1 teaspoon) mustard powder<\/li>\n<li>15 ml (1 tablespoon) cake flour<\/li>\n<li>30 ml (2 tablespoons) white vinegar<\/li>\n<li>375 ml (1\u00bd cups) water<\/li>\n<li>125 ml (\u00bd cup) raisins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Method<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Place the tongue in a large saucepan and cover with water.<\/li>\n<li>Add the brown sugar, pepper and cloves.<\/li>\n<li>Cover with the lid and let it simmer over low heat for 2 hours.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the tongue and let it cool somewhat.<\/li>\n<li>Peel the outer layer of skin off the tongue.<\/li>\n<li>Cut the tongue into thin slices and arrange the meat in an ovenproof dish.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Sauce Method<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Put the sugar, mustard powder and cake flour in a saucepan and stir well.<\/li>\n<li>Use a whisk and add the water slowly to the contents of the saucepan so that it mixes evenly and does not form lumps.<br \/>\nAlso add the vinegar.<\/li>\n<li>Heat slowly and stir now and then until the mixture starts boiling.<\/li>\n<li>Add the raisins and boil until the sauce thickens.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the sauce over the slices of tongue and place the dish in a preheated oven (160\u00b0C) until thoroughly heated, and serve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: https:\/\/www.clover.co.za\/recipe\/beef-tongue\/<\/p>\n<div class=\"hide-redirect-shortcode\">\t\t<meta http-equiv=\"refresh\" content=\"60;
