{"id":32803,"date":"2025-04-17T09:29:25","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T09:29:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bluffmeatsupply.co.za\/touchscreen\/?post_type=recipe&#038;p=32803"},"modified":"2025-09-26T12:41:30","modified_gmt":"2025-09-26T12:41:30","slug":"easy-roast-beef","status":"publish","type":"recipe","link":"https:\/\/bluffmeatsupply.co.za\/touchscreen\/index.php\/recipe\/easy-roast-beef\/","title":{"rendered":"Easy Silverside Roast"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Ingredients<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1kg beef silverside<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 tsp plain flour<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 tsp mustard powder<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 onion <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cut into 8 wedges<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">500g carrots h<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">alved lengthways<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>For the gravy<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 tablespoon plain flour<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">250ml beef stock<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Method<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heat oven to 240<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00b0C<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mix 1 tsp plain flour and 1 tsp mustard powder with some seasoning, then rub all over the 1kgg beef top rump joint.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Put 1 onion, cut into 8 wedges, and 500g carrots, halved lengthways, into a roasting tin and sit the beef on top, then cook for 20 mins.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reduce oven to 190<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00b0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C and continue to cook the beef for 30 mins if you like it rare, 40 mins for medium and 1 hr for well done.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remove the beef and carrots from the oven, place onto warm plates or platters and cover with foil to keep warm.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let the beef rest for 30 mins while you turn up the oven to cook your Yorkshire puds and finish the potatoes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the gravy, put the tin with all the meat juices and onions back onto the hob.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stir in 1 tablespoon plain flour, scraping all the stuck bits off the bottom of the tin.
