What is a Stokvel?
A Stokvel is like a group savings club, and it is a popular saving option in South Africa. The Stokvel assists members in covering expenses related to the festive season shopping, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the holiday season without financial strain.
Register your Stokvel Club with us and benefit from having your savings on your Stokvel Club Card to spend at all our Bluff Meat Supply/ Mndeni Meats stores! Stokvels work as savings club, offering individual and groups collective savings and buying services.
Stokvels vary in size from 1 to 150 members, and the members make decisions collectively about what they buy and where they make their purchases. Many Stokvel Clubs have a Chairperson and Treasurer who are responsible for administering the Stokvel.
How do I join the Bluff Meat Supply/Mndeni Meats Stokvel?
- The Chairperson or Treasurer ID you can only use one ID for registration.
- You can make purchases from 15th November to 15th February annually.

- You can use the Stokvel card to purchase products during the festive season, from 15th November to 15th February each year.
- Bluff Meat Supply offers our products in bulk to help our customers save even more on their bulk purchases. There are always great discounts on large bulk purchases.
- Each Stokvel Club receives a 2% rebate on the purchase of vouchers for savings.
- You can also divide funds among members by requesting a transfer from the main member’s Stokvel card onto members cards. We no longer have the functionality of transferring from Stokvel to Stokvel.

Stokvel FAQs
1. Can I save my Stokvel funds with Bluff Meat Supply?
Yes – you can deposit your Stokvel funds at any Bluff Meat Supply or Mndeni Meat Store closest to you. Ask our friendly cashier in-store to deposit the funds onto your Stokvel profile.
2. Do I earn any interest on the funds saved with Bluff Meat Supply?
No – we’re not a banking facility – Bluff Meat Supply will keep your vouchers saved until you’re ready to shop during the Stokvel period. However we will reward you with 2% cash back of the deposited value back into your card each time you deposit funds
3. When can I use the funds?
Our Stokvel period opens from 15th November to 15th February each year.
4. How do I transfer funds to my members?
When the Stokvel period opens you will be able to transfer the funds to member cards at all Bluff Meat Supply and Mndeni Stores. Transfers from the main member card to member cards can only be completed at stores.
5. What will happen if the Stokvel main member (chairperson) passes away and the remaining Stokvel members need to access the funds?
Bluff Meat Supply / Mndeni Meats will require official confirmation of the member’s death, which includes a certified copy of the deceased’s ID, the death certificate and a letter from the next of kin or the executor of the estate confirming authority to access the funds. If these documents are not available due to the family’s refusal, the remaining Stokvel members must submit a written letter notifying Bluff Meat Supply of the death. The letter must clearly state that the deceased’s family has refused to share the documents. Members must also attach meeting minutes signed by all members confirming the death and the group’s decision regarding the funds, as well as copies of all active members’ IDs and their contact numbers.
6. Can funds be transferred from a Stokvel Member Card to a Loyalty Card or Gift Card?
No, funds cannot be moved to Loyalty or Gift cards as these funds have been allocated for Stokvel use only.
